I have thirty years of experience in Secondary school education. I have spent over twenty years of this as a senior manager; ten of those as a headteacher in two different schools. I have taught a number of subjects been an IT Co-Ordinator, Exams officer, Cover Co-ordinated and more! I understand the challenges faced by the education sector today, as well as the joy of working in an education environment.

I started my career in the prison service which highlighted the positive impact education can have in shaping peoples’ lives, it was this experience that prompted me to return to university and study to become a teacher.

As a Headteacher I worked in schools which faced the challenges of reducing budgets, lack of community investments and worked through the pandemic. I have learnt to find positive outcomes and be proactive in solving problems which, at first, seem hard to overcome.

I learnt a great deal from those I worked with as a Headteacher across two very different and rewarding schools. By taking a long-term approach to school improvement I was able to guide both these schools through different challenges by building and working with effective leadership teams.

Now retired, I am utilising my experience across education to help other senior leaders to become the best they can be, by fostering successful team relationships.
